Fall Reset

Fall is here so I am ready for a fall reset! My home is full of school supplies for distance learning, pumpkin lattes are part of my life again and the weather is cooling down.  And best of all, soup season is coming (or already here in my household)! With all things fall coming into my life, I am ready for a fall reset.

Fall is a time of transition, which makes it the perfect time for a reset. I enjoy resetting my goals with each change of season. Fall is one of the best times for this because there is large transitions of school and activities starting (granted, they are limited this year). Large changes like these always make me want to reset and build more routines.

So to reset myself for fall, I am focusing on a few areas where I have started a few 30 day challenges. You may be surprised to read that I am not going to do a Whole30 challenge since that has been my go-to in the past. I am instead going to do different challenges around physical well being.

Here are the 30 day challenges I am following for September:

  • 30 Days of Yoga. This summer my consistent yoga practice has fallen apart. With working while parenting and only doing yoga over Zoom, it just hasn’t worked. However, yoga is something that I LOVE and I feel SO much better when I practice consistently. Therefore, I need something to build that consistency again and a 30 days of yoga is just that. Now I could “do my own thing” since I am 200 hr yoga teacher certified but sometimes I don’t want to think, I just want to flow. So I am going to do a 30 day yoga challenge from Yoga with Adrienne. There are actual several to chose from on her channel. I’ve started her 30 day challenge from 2015 but may try out her newer one too to get some variety.

  • Daily Walks. I love walking. It is a my go-to cardio. I have been doing walks sporadically during the summer, basically when times allows. This means it doesn’t always happen. I feel much better when I got out for daily walks so I am going to start building this habit again. This is tracked through my Garmin watch to hold myself accountable.
  • 30 Days of Meditation. In my previous post, I wrote how meditation had finally become a daily habit. This was very true and still mostly true but want to keep it consistent. I am tracking this through my Headspace app where I can see my daily streak of meditation and want to get it up to 30+ again. When I meditate, I find that it really helps clear my mind. This is something I am definitely going to need this fall with distance learning + preschool at home + work.

Those are my three challenges I have for myself to reset for fall.

Through yoga, walking and meditation, I can really help myself to feel better physically and mentally each day.

This will help me to be more grounded and have more patience through the biggest challenge in front of me right now, distance learning and preschool at home.

You may wonder why I didn’t decide to add a food challenge to these and well, I didn’t want to do that right now. I thought it would spread myself too thin with everything going on. Instead I wanted to focus on my physical and mental well-being.

What do you do to reset for fall?
