My “always” post

Last Friday I wrote a “lately” post that gives tidbits about things that have been happening lately. I ended with a note about hating laundry but then joked that I always hate laundry. So I decided that I should do an “always” post. It’s like a “lately” post but instead about stuff that’s “always” happening. So here it goes….

I always have a water bottle nearby. After being pregnant and breastfeeding two babies, I was so thirsty all of the time so I got into a habit of always having a water bottle nearby. This habit stuck with me post babies now. I can’t even drive anywhere without having a water bottle in the car. And sometimes I leave them on top of the car and drive away 🙂

I always love a Target run. We go shopping at Target on Friday nights or Saturday mornings and oftentimes go with the entire family. The real fun comes though when I go by myself and can just take my time through the store (this rarely happens). It was also one of my favorite things to do on maternity leave because I feel like the people there are cool with babies who may scream and then need to be breastfed in the store.

I always have music playing at my house, pretty much all day long. Even right now I am listening to Vivaldi in my living room as I write this. And we are old school with CD’s through a receiver and CD player that are from my grandparents. We are starting to get with the times though as we have a Google home that we play kid songs in the basement for the girls. PS: ‘The Jungle Book’ has some good tunes for a dance party.

I always forget to take the garbage out. My husband will literally put it right by the door a few minutes before I leave for the day so I would pretty much have to trip on it not to take it out and I still forget. Maybe this isn’t a coincidence….

I always eat a dessert every single night. No exceptions. This doesn’t mean I eat a giant bowl of ice cream every night (although I could totally get on board with that if I wouldn’t gain weight), I just have a little something sweet. This is usually one square of dark chocolate. My go-to right now is Ghiradelli Sea Salt Soiree. It is like 50 calories and my favorite 50 calories of my day. It’s dark chocolate so it hits the spot but not as good as milk chocolate that would make me go back for more. And since it is dark chocolate, I pretend like I am getting antioxidants from it. I do this because I have the biggest sweet tooth and I’ve found that to keep myself in check on my eating, I need a little something sweet.

I always practice yoga every single week. I don’t remember the last full week that I didn’t practice yoga?….oh wait, maybe when my youngest was born since it was a c-section (that’s a whole other story) and I couldn’t sit up without the assistance of a moving bed. Anyway, I always practice yoga because it keeps me grounded, balanced and builds strength. I found that practicing yoga helps me have more patience throughout the day and reminds me to breath as my toddler is crying, my dog is barking, and my husband is asking me a question while I am trying to get a snack for my 4 year old (I’m sure many moms can relate). Yoga is amazing.

I always watch old sitcoms before bed. ‘Friends’ and ‘How I met your Mother’ are my go-to’s. I’ve seen both of those series so many times now that daily conversations remind me of Friends quotes; like every time we are moving furniture…….“pivot!!”

I always think dogs are so weird for taking like 10 spins in a circle before laying down but then find they look so comfortable.

I always weigh myself. If you’ve read my other posts, I lost some weight over the years so to ensure that I keep up my maintenance, I keep a close eye on my weight. I know weight fluctuates from day to day but I still weigh myself every day and it works for me to maintain.

I always plan out all of my meals each week. I do it so much that I wrote an entire post about it. This week is no different but will be less grocery shopping since we got another winter CSA. Here is my meal plan for next week in case anyone’s interested in some recipes:

  • Whole Chicken in Crockpot w/potatoes, carrots & onions, recipe here
  • Beet and Goat Cheese Salad, recipe here
  • Lentil Bolognese, recipe here

So there you have it, my version of an “always” post of things that are always happening in my life.

What are you always doing?
